Veterans Day is a special day each year when we pause to honor and thank the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. Originally called Armistice Day, this holiday was first observed on November 11, 1919, marking the first anniversary of the end of World War I. The idea was to celebrate the moment the fighting ceased, symbolizing peace after such a devastating war. Over time, Armistice Day was expanded to honor not just those who fought in WWI, but all veterans who have defended our country’s freedom. In 1954, President Eisenhower officially renamed it Veterans Day.
As a mom of a veteran, I feel incredibly grateful for the sacrifices these men and women make—not just for us here at home but also for the future we are building for our children. Their courage and commitment are gifts we can never fully repay but will forever appreciate. Today, let’s take a moment to recognize these heroes and teach our kids about their sacrifices and bravery. To all our veterans, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We salute you!
